Ultherapy® is an FDA-approved non-surgical treatment that reverses the signs of aging by lifting the skin and smoothing away wrinkles on the brow, face, neck, and decolletage. Until recently, tightening and smoothing skin of the face and neck could only be achieved through surgical procedures like facelift and laser resurfacing.
Surgical procedures, however, require downtime for recovery, the need for anesthesia, and possible complications. Ultherapy, a non-invasive ultrasound treatment, eliminates the need for invasive treatments for many of our New York area patients.
How Ultherapy Works
Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin by stimulating collagen production deep within the tissue in a completely noninvasive manner. This tightening effect is clinically significant and continues to improve the appearance of the skin over two to three months. The ultrasound energy bypasses the outer layer of skin, and can be used on any skin type. There is no risk to darker patients.
The Ultherapy procedure is relatively simple. The treatment only takes between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the treatment area. You will feel ultrasound energy being delivered, which can feel warm, but with the latest ultrasound visualization capabilities, the exact location to place the energy can be determined to minimize any discomfort.
Ultherapy Treatment Areas
Ultherapy can be used to treat areas in the face and neck, including:
Improves jowling and tightens along the jawline. Shown here is a patient who has a nice improvement after Ultherapy above and below the jawline.
Tightens and lifts the neck area. This is a patient has a significantly smoother neck after Ultherapy with no recovery or downtime.
Eyelid and Brow
Improves skin under and around the eyes and lifts the brow. Shown here is a patient who benefitted from Ultherapy to the brow, creating a nice lift with no surgery at all.
Smooths irregular skin on the chest. This photo set shows the great improvement one can get on that irregular chest skin. No other technique is as effective as Ultherapy for this.
Who Is a Candidate for Ultherapy
You may be a good candidate for Ultherapy if you have mild to moderate laxity of the skin in areas of the neck, jawline, eyebrow, or chest. Ultherapy cannot reproduce the effects of a facelift, but for a patient who is not ready to undergo surgery, it is an excellent procedure to achieve remarkably younger looking results.
One of the main benefits of choosing Ultherapy over surgical facial rejuvenation options is that it requires little to no recovery time. You will likely experience some initial redness and mild swelling may occur. In rare cases temporary bruising or numbness is noticeable, but these effects resolve within a few days.
Over the next two to three months, you can relax and enjoy the smoothing and tightening effects of Ultherapy.
