If a woman chooses to return to her natural breasts, implant removal, or explantation, can be performed, sometimes in tandem with a breast lift or fat transfer procedure. Implant removal is usually recommended when a patient struggles with BII (Breast Implant Illness.) Explantation may also help alleviate capsular contracture.
Whether or not the implants are taken out for good, or are replaced, the goal is always to address excess scar tissue and improve comfort as well as aesthetics.

What To Expect
Breast revision is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation. It usually takes around 1-3 hours, depending on the complexity of the work performed. Most clients return home the same day, escorted by a friend or family member.

Recovery
What Can I Expect From My Recovery?
Most patients resume normal activities within the first week. A breast exchange often involves less downtime and discomfort than a primary augmentation, since the breast capsule has already formed. Still, avoid strenuous exertion and heavy lifting for 4-6 weeks, or as your surgeon recommends.
Swelling, bruising, and tenderness are normal after surgery and respond to pain medication. You'll go home with an aftercare plan covering bathing and showering, wound care, sleeping, exercise, and returning to work.
