Before & After

Overview
As we age, the face loses fat volume and the cheeks droop. That deepens nasolabial folds and drool lines and adds years to your look.
Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers are a quick and painless way to restore youth and beauty to your face. We use a variety of fillers in our office, and we can select the right one to help with your wrinkle reduction.
Injectable dermal fillers plump the creases between your nose and lips (nasolabial folds or laugh lines) and between your lips and chin (labiomandibular folds or drool lines). They can help with:
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin, these products add plumpness to the nasolabial folds and labiomandibular folds. They also soften wrinkles elsewhere on the face, such as around the lips and under the eye in the tear trough.
Results last from six to eight months.

FAQ
It’s highly unlikely that Juvederm injections are behind neurological symptoms. The substance is natural and has no effect on the nerves. Possible side effects include bruising and, in extreme cases, skin loss, but nothing like what you describe. See another physician right away and undergo further testing for an accurate diagnosis. Make the appointment immediately, and know that these symptoms would not be from the Juvederm.
Juvederm is a strong filler, but other procedures work too. Radiesse is ideal for plumping the nasolabial folds and lasts about 12 months, while Juvederm lasts around eight months. Fat injections using your own harvested fat give a more permanent result. All of these filler procedures deliver immediate improvement.
Results from augmentation with Juvederm last six to nine months. They should be immediate and look natural. Your body reabsorbs the hyaluronic acid over time, so follow-up injections maintain a refreshed look. Your results do show improvement, but good communication drives a good outcome. Revisit your plastic surgeon, restate what you want, and let him decide if more filler is the answer.
As we age, the face loses volume. That leads to jowling and folds around the mouth. If you want to avoid surgery, cosmetic procedures that restore volume can rejuvenate your look.
These options include injectable fillers such as Juvederm and Radiesse. They are affordable, noninvasive, and temporary. Fat injections are another option. They are minimally invasive and need only local anesthesia to harvest fat, often from the upper thigh or abdomen. That fat is processed and injected into the nasolabial folds over a year to build a lasting improvement. You might also be a candidate for Sculptra®, a series of injections that jumpstart your body’s own collagen production over time.

Calcium Hydroxyapatite
Made from calcium hydroxyapatite, Radiesse adds volume to the nasolabial folds and labiomandibular folds and augments the cheeks.
It gives fuller results than Juvederm and can last up to a year.
FAQ
Some patients bruise and swell after Radiesse injections; others see none at all. Most swelling fades within a day, but a minor hematoma can take up to two weeks. Keeping your head elevated and using cold compresses can speed that up. Some redness and slight tenderness at the injection site is also common. Stay in contact with your surgeon so they can address any concerns as they arise.
Because Radiesse is non-reactive and biocompatible, an allergic reaction is not possible. Side effects can still occur, such as swelling, bruising, mild irritation, redness (which can look like an allergic reaction), and tenderness.
Rarely, if Radiesse is injected into a blood vessel, it can cause skin problems at the injection site. Use an experienced physician who works with dermal fillers regularly. Done correctly, the results are very satisfying.
Using Radiesse to sculpt or refine the results of rhinoplasty can work well in the hands of an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon. Conservative amounts to augment indented areas are cost effective and less invasive than surgical rhinoplasty.
Radiesse injections for the nose cost around $1,000, compared to $7,000 to $10,000 for rhinoplasty. Radiesse is Food and Drug Administration approved for facial wrinkle injections and can be used off-label as a filler for the nose. Silicone is another option for small indentations. Consult your facial plastic surgeon in Manhattan to identify your best options.
Swelling and bruising, while not common, are normal reactions to Radiesse injections. Swelling is usually minor and fades within a day. Bruising can take a few days to resolve. If bruising and swelling last more than a week, contact your surgeon to identify the underlying issue.
Poly-L-lactic Acid
Made from Poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra® penetrates deep into the skin and replenishes lost collagen. It is best for nasolabial folds, sunken cheeks, and hollow temporal regions.
Results can last two years after a few injections to build the look.

FAQ
With an eyelift, first determine whether the problem is extra skin over the eyelid, a droopy brow, or both. If it is mostly excess skin over the lid, a minor surgical procedure corrects that. If the brow is droopy, BOTOX Cosmetic can help. If you would rather avoid BOTOX Cosmetic or surgery, fillers in the lateral brow area can help. These include Sculptra, fat injection, or Radiesse. See a facial plastic surgeon who specializes in facial rejuvenation.
Sculptra is not instant, but it gives good results over time. It works gradually to replace collagen lost to natural aging. A series of injections over a few months can produce rejuvenation that sometimes lasts years.
The average is three injections per session, though it varies from person to person. The effect peaks at about six months. A small touch-up may be needed once a year, far less than the initial procedure. The result relies heavily on the experience of the surgeon injecting the Sculptra.
Sculptra is not an instant fix, but it improves flat cheeks over time. Because it jumpstarts collagen production, it is a strong option for augmenting them. An average of three sessions over three months creates enhancement that lasts a couple of years. Seek a physician experienced in Sculptra injections who has performed many augmentations with dermal fillers.
Sculptra is a strong option for augmenting sunken cheeks. It is long lasting but not a quick fix. It improves gradually over time, replacing lost collagen and recreating a more natural, youthful appearance.
An initial treatment averages three sessions and lasts up to two years. Sculptra costs an average of $800 per session. Fat injections are another good alternative.
As we age, we lose collagen, and skin sags and loses volume and structure. Juvéderm Voluma is an injectable filler (volumizer) made from a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA), which occurs naturally in nearly every cell of the body, with 50% of it in the skin.
Voluma produces a natural-looking result by smoothing out the lines alongside your nose and mouth and replenishing lost facial volume. After treatment your face will have a softer, more youthful appearance. Additionally, Voluma can be used in a non-surgical nose job procedure to correct a droopy tip or a bump along the bridge of your nose.
Bellafil is a semi-permanent filler made from collagen and PMMA. It is used widely for acne scarring and for any indentations or wrinkles where more permanence is wanted.

Unlike other dermal fillers, silicone is permanent. In small quantities it enhances the lips and softens nasolabial folds and labiomandibular folds. It is also ideal for filling "smoker's lines" on the upper lip.
Our microinjection technique lets patients build enhancement gradually until the permanent result is reached.
Fat harvested from unwanted places on your own body, such as love handles or abdomen, can be processed for injection to improve your appearance in other areas. Fat injections can be used like any other dermal filler to correct nasolabial folds, labiomandibular folds, hollow cheeks, thin lips, or sunken tear troughs.
Any remaining fat can be frozen and stored for future injections.
Can you give your skin a healthy glow and a firmer, lifted look without chemicals, drugs, or surgery?
Yes, using your own blood sample.
This treatment uses your own blood to extract the platelet portion. That part of your blood carries the growth factors that repair damage and stimulate new collagen anywhere in the body, and it works especially well on skin.
The process takes about 15 minutes. The protein matrix and growth factors in blood are isolated from the platelet portion of the serum. A blood sample is drawn and the platelets are set aside. A tiny microneedle then places the blood infusion at the neck, jowls, cheek, forehead, and around the eyes.
Three sessions two weeks apart are recommended. Twice-a-year treatments maintain the lifting and tightening.
